Rothmans Benson & Hedges employees help Habitat for Humanity - Toronto.com
For the third summer in a row, Rothmans, Benson & Hedges (RBH) employees took part in the Habitat for Humanity GTA Habitat Build Day program. In two separate builds, dozens of RBH employees gathered in Scarborough at the Pinery Trail build site. The teams spent the two days drywalling, caulking, installing insulation and cleaning up the site in preparation for the move in. The build at 140 Pinery Trail is a three-year, three-phase, 50-home project; the largest Habitat for Humanity GTA build to date.
In addition to volunteering, RBH donated $40,000 in 2019 to help Habitat for Humanity Canada continue its mission of building safe, decent and affordable homes for low-income families.
The continued partnership with Habitat for Humanity provides RBH employees the opportunity to volunteer their time while working toward a sustainability goal of providing livable cities and economic opportunity within the community.
RBH is transforming its business and how it interacts with consumers and communities as they strive to be a leader in sustainable development.
As part of this commitment, on Aug. 19, RBH announced a new grant funding program. Through this initiative, RBH encourages charities focused on education, the environment, or community development to apply for a grant worth up to $25,000.
“Our employees drive our efforts to give back to a variety of communities and causes where there is a need. It’s meaningful and important as part of our company’s culture to give back to the greater community,” said Peter Luongo, managing director of RBH.
The window for applications closes on Nov. 30, 2019 and details on how to apply can be found at RBHInc.ca
